Teacher Licensure Testing Requirements

Concordia MAT applicants are required to have taken and passed a Basic Skills test PRIOR to being admitted to the program. ONE of the following tests will fulfill the Basic Skills test requirement:

In addition, ALL applicants will need to submit passing scores to meet requirements set by the State of Oregon on the ORELA Multiple Subjects Exam. Subtests I & II are required for licensure. Passing scores must be submitted before student teaching begins.

The Protecting Student and Civil Rights in the Educational Environment test is required for licensure. This test needs to be passed before Concordia can recommend you for licensure, which happens upon successful completion of the program.

Subject Specific Tests are required for applicants seeking a Middle Level and/or High School authorization level(s). Choose from endorsements in art, biology, business, chemistry, drama, health, integrated science, early childhood, language arts, marketing, mathematics (basic or advanced), music, physical education, physics, social studies, Spanish, or speech.

The current Subject Specific Tests accepted by Oregon have recently changed.

Download the Testing Brochure to view the test dates, costs, registration deadlines, and contact information for the latest required exams. If you plan to teach in the state of Washington, you may be required to complete additional tests.

It is recommended that applicants complete all tests prior to the first day of class.
